This transcription was made by the COMPAUL Project, funded between 2011-16 by a Starting Grant awarded to Dr H.A.G. Houghton under the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-13 grant agreement 283302).
This transcription was made on a Vulgate base text, from high-quality colour digital images supplied by the holding institution. This transcription includes all corrections, page layout information, formatting, abbreviations and rubrication. The transcriber was Rosalind MacLachlan in June 2012. She compared the images with H. J. Frede, Ein Neuer Paulustext und Kommentar, Band II Die Texte (Freiberg, 1974). The transcription was proofread against Frede and the digital images by Hugh Houghton in December 2013.
Frede has recorded a number of corrections which do not appear in the MS; presumably his own. There has been considerable emendation, erasure and addition to the punctuation; in particular, most (but not all) semicolons seem to be expansions of single dots. This transcription aims to restore the punctuation of the first hand; corrections to punctuation have only been recorded when they involve a question mark. In several cases, erasures which may involve a final letter of a word have been taken as erasures of punctuation; a note has been added where this decision is open to challenge. Digraphs have been recorded, except where they cross word boundaries. The forms of 'rt' and 'rc' have been treated as ligatures rather than digraphs and not recorded. Word divisions have been brought into correspondence with the Vulgate base text. The number of lines of intervening commentary text has not been recorded; comm stands for between 1 and 10 lines.
