This transcription was made by the COMPAUL Project, funded between 2011-16 by a Starting Grant awarded to Dr H.A.G. Houghton under the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-13 grant agreement 283302).
This transcription was made on a Vulgate base text, from the reconstruction published by Heinrich Josef Vogels, Das Corpus Paulinum Des Ambrosiaster (Bonn, 1957), p.63-90. The pagination and lineation is preserved. Unless otherwise indicated, word divisions correspond to the Vulgate base text. Editorial text in square or angled brackets has been replaced by the manuscript attestation. Certain readings have also been compared with colour digital images of MS A. The variant readings from 16 manuscripts and 2 editions are noted in a critical apparatus at the bottom of the page: most are indicated simply as 'var', but variants found only in A or D are noted separately because of their consistent non-Vg colouring and 'R' is used for variants found only in the 1579 Rome edition (or in this and the Maurist edition). When the Maurist edition (m) is the only one to agree with the Roman edition (in much of the epistle) or MSS A and D (in the last two chapters), this has not been counted as invalidating the uniqueness of these witnesses.
