The PM2.5 sampling was conducted at two urban background sites, Birmingham Air Quality Supersite (BAQS) and Ladywood (LW) in the West Midlands, UK. Monitoring was carried out from 4th January 2021 to 27th February 2022 and 4th January to 15th December 2021 at BAQs and LW, respectively. 24-hour PM2.5 samples were collected on pre-baked quartz filters (Pallflex, 8×10 inch) at BAQS (Tisch, USA, flow rate of 1.1 m3 min-1) and LW (Tisch, USA, flow rate of 1.1 m3 min-1) using a high-volume air sampler. Later, filter samples were analysed for elemental carbon (EC), organic carbon (OC), organic tracers, inorganic ions and metallic elements. Positive Matrix Factorisation was performed to apportion the sources of PM2.5 in the West Midlands using the chemical dataset.
