Hybrid electrolytes with an argyrodite-type separator and a liquid catholyte show real promise for next-generation lithium–sulfur batteries. In this work, we demonstrate that the choice of liquid electrolyte determines the properties of the solid–liquid electrolyte interphase, with substantial implications for battery performance.
