Where categories overlapped, priority was given to ‘medical’ and ‘therapy’. ‘Medical’ included anatomy, symptoms and signs of disease, individual diseases and operations. Where meaning has been amplified this has been put in italics. The spreadsheet is printed as an addendum to the thesis to allow scholars to scan the contents for specific words, synomyns or categories. This technique has been used in my thesis for search such subjects as fevers, astrology and alchemy.
